What We Study

Using two theoretical frameworks, the Social Learning Theory (Bandura, 1971) and Ecological Systems Theory (Bronfenbrenner, 1979), we conduct empirical research with an applied basis to address the social and emotional needs of young children. We seek to understand:

  • what tools are available that can be used as models for young children in early childhood classrooms

  • how can we use these tools to improve school readiness and engagement for all learners

  • ways to facilitate collaboration across a community of supports (e.g., practitioners, families, peers, researchers, and cultural mediators) to harness these tools in ways that are flexible and relevant to young children

May every child be treated with dignity
